President Biden on Friday announced Adm. Lisa Franchetti as his pick to head the Navy — a historic decision that, upon her confirmation, would make her the first woman to lead the service and become a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Biden’s pick of Franchetti for the top Navy job overrules Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s recommendation of Adm. Samuel Paparo …

This selection is in keeping with the “Geriatric Joe” Biden modus operandi, never pick the best qualified person for the job when there is someone less qualified that checks an affirmative action box he can choose. Never mind that both the SecDef and SecNav knew ADM Paparo was the best person for the job but they were overruled by a Vietnam War Draft Dodger based on his superior Military knowledge.

Really? After perusing both resumes, Franchetti appears the superior candidate. Makes me wonder if there is an element of sexism in Austin’s decision process. Bias is is an undesirable trait in a military leader, so easy to exploit.

When selecting someone to lead Warfighters I always look for someone that actually has been to war. Did you notice that in her entire 38 years of service that included Panama, the Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan, ADM Franchette has managed to avoid spending a single day in a combat zone as evidenced by her not even having a single combat area service ribbon let alone a combat award. Now go look at the numerous combat awards ADM Paparo has accumulated flying in combat zones. And exactly what do you base your assessment that “Franchetti appears the superior candidate?”
